Onkyo has announced two THX Select2 Plus-certified AV receivers with multiroom audio and 4K/HDR HDMI compatibility. The 7.2-Channel TX-RZ710 and TX-RZ810 are Dolby Atmos from the box, and DTS:X firmware upgradable. The receivers use AccuReflex technology as part of the brand's AccuEQ room calibration software, tailored for object-based surround-sound formats. Connectivity includes eight DCCP 2.2 HDMI inputs with two outputs, one for the main display, the other for Zone 2, allowing 4K/60Hz video to be distributed in two locations.
Onkyo says the receivers employ high-output transformers, with upgraded and customised capacitors, and boast a custom circuit design said to be able to reproduce frequencies down to 5Hz. Control for both is offered via RS-232C, with integrated 12v triggers.
The top of the range TX-RZ810 is distinguished by separate analogue amplification and digital processing blocks, as well as solid copper bus bars to limit interference. Both receivers are also compatible with the new FireConnect wireless audio technology. The TX-RZ810 also has dedicated powered Zone 2 speaker outputs with Zone 2 DAC, and Zone 3 line-out support. The TX-RZ810 includes 7.2 multichannel pre-outs for system expansion.
The feature spec includes Google Cast, AirPlay, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The TX-RZ810 and TX-RZ710 retail for £1049 and £849 respectively. Available in both black and silver finishes, they begin shipping late April.
